Guide

Using Moondraft over MCP

This guide is for driving Moondraft from an AI assistant like Claude Code or Cursor over MCP, so you generate by chatting. Prefer a visual workspace? The free Moondraft canvas app does the same generation with a full UI. Either way, it's the same engine and the same credits.

1 Get your API key

Sign up at the sign-up page. You'll get an API key and 50 free credits.

2 Connect to Claude Code

Open a terminal and run:

claude mcp add --transport http moondraft https://moondraft.ai/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

Then quit and reopen Claude Code. The tools won't load until you restart.

Using Cursor? Add Moondraft as an MCP server in Cursor's settings with the same URL and auth header.

3 Start making things

Just type what you want. Some examples:

You don't need to pick models, adjust settings, or write technical prompts. Moondraft handles that behind the scenes.

What it costs

How MCP tools work

When you type a message, your AI assistant reads it and decides which Moondraft tool to call. You'll see a confirmation showing the tool name and parameters. Press 1 to approve, or 2 to approve and skip the prompt for that tool from then on.

Pro tip: Pick "don't ask again" for tools you use often. It makes the workflow much faster.

Characters in multiple scenes

If a character appears in more than one image, Moondraft automatically creates a reference sheet first, so they stay consistent across every scene. You don't need to do anything, just mention the character.

Style matching

Got a reference image with a look you like? Paste it in and say "match this style." Moondraft picks up the color palette, lighting, and rendering approach.

Voice options for video

When making a video where someone speaks, Moondraft picks a voice based on who you describe. You can also specify:

Just say "use Roger's voice" or "make it a male voice" in your prompt.
